James 4:8 “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”
How can a Christian continue to stay close to God?
1. Spending time in Prayer
James 4:2 “...yet ye have not, because ye ask not.”
Prayer is approaching God to ask of Him. When a Christian goes to God in prayer it may prove they are dependent upon Him. It is also a time to be close to God; think, you are entering Holy ground, entering into His presence in a special way. How do you start of your day?
2. Praying in the will of God
James 4:3 “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”
Staying close to God is to be in line with God’s Will. If we are to be living the Will of God, then we must be praying according to His Will.
Note: At times God’s ways will conflict with your ways; are you prepared to allow God to redirect your thoughts, path, decisions, and prayers that will be in line with God’s desire even if it is not what you were hoping for or praying for. If you are, this is a good sign that you desire to stay close to God.
Psalm 37:4 “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
Are you delighted in the Lord and happy to be led in His ways even if it may disagree with your plans?
