Note: Principles that will help overcome discouragement in the Lives of Christians.
1. Present success
Note: We can have success by looking to Jesus
Hebrews 12:1-2 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, vs 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”
When we have our eyes fixed on Jesus, He helps us lay aside every weight and sin… Jesus is on the throne, and He is able to give me the victory:
a. By His Interceding for us. Luke 22:31-32 b. By His Spirit. Galatians 5:16-17
2. Past Success
Note: We can have success by looking back to Jesus
a. Remember God’s Grace is greater than our sins.
Romans 5:19-20 “For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Vs 20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:”
b. The Blood of Jesus is Sufficient
When you Confess, God Forgives. – Psalm 51:1-8
Rejoicing and encouragement comes when I am washed in the blood of the Lamb.
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Ultimately, disobedience, doubt, distrust in God and His Word will bring discouragement.
Notice Joshua 1:17
Joshua 1:17 “According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.”
However, it will be obedience, faith, and trust in God and His Word that will bring about Encouragement.
Notice Verse 7-8
Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
