Ways we can keep Jesus Preeminent in our Church & Lives
A. Glorify the Father
John 15:8 “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”
1. Bear Fruit - John 15:8
The best kind of fruit we can bear will come from the Holy Spirit. (Gal 5:22-23) As we yield to the spirit, He will help us to be salty Christians that will be a blessing to others. As we strive to grow in Christlikeness we then are able to bring glory to the Father.
2. Bear Burdens – John 15:9
One of the fruit of the Spirit is “Love”, and Jesus demonstrated His love toward us by bearing our burdens. If you are exhibiting love you will find opportunities to help others and live for others.
Galatians 6:2 “Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”
B. Gladly walk with Jesus
1. Believe God’s Word – John 15:14
John 15:14 “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.”
To walk and befriend Jesus means to believe His Word; to believe His Word means we obey what He commands. Jesus is direct and to the point, and makes it clear, to have a close walk with Jesus means you obey Him.
2. Blessing of obedience – John 15:15
John 15:15 “Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”
a. God’s Plans will be fulfilled in your Life
It is absolutely tremendous to know that God has a desire to share His will with us. This is the most exciting part of being a Christian. God wants to make known His wonderful plans for your life and for His glory. Knowing God’s plans will be a result of trusting and obeying Jesus Christ.
b. God answering your Prayers
John 15:7 “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
Naturally when a person is walking with Jesus and has His Word to be their guide, they will be sensitive to pray in God’s will and according to His ways.
1 John 5:14 “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”
What a blessing to know that God hears our prayers; this is the assurance that we have in Jesus Christ. We have a God that is mindful of us and cares for us. Always remember, God desires His best for you in His will more than you do. Let’s keep Jesus first in our Church and our lives by bringing glory to God through loving one another and gladly walking with Jesus by submitting to His Word and Will.
