Ephesians 3:20 "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,"
“God is looking for people through whom He can do the impossible. What a pity that we plan only the things we can do by ourselves.”—A. W. Tozer
How is a Christian able to allow God to do the impossible in their life? The answer is in Hebrews 10:38 “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”
God certainly is looking for people that will be willing to step out by faith and trust Him.
When Jesus was training up His disciples, He would often put them in certain situations that would test their faith. Peter the Apostle would often be at the forefront of the test. Peter did not have faith that Jesus was able to bring in fish because they were toiling all night and caught nothing. Peter would start to learn that God is able to do more than we can do. The impossible step of faith of walking on water only lasted a few seconds as Peter began to look around and be intimidated by the raging sea causing him to lose faith in God.
To live by faith means to trust God to do the things that we cannot; to do the things that are beyond our ability and the things that God desires us to do. It takes faith to be willing to surrender all and follow the Lord Jesus Christ, and not doubt. Humanly speaking, it is an impossible task. When Jesus was approached by the rich man and said…what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” (Luke 18:18) Jesus sums it up and mentions that he must follow Him.
Luke 18:22 “Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.”
As you know, the rich man was not able to do this impossible request because he was a selfish, sinful man that lived a lavish, independent and ungodly lifestyle.
Luke 18:23 “And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.”
The people that heard Jesus were astonished at the answer that Jesus gave because they knew it would be an impossible request for them also.
Luke 18:26 “And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?”
That is no doubt a very good question, because as the scripture declares in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Notice the reply Jesus gives… Luke 18:27 “And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
In reality no man is able to surrender to Christ without God doing work in his heart first, and as God does the impossible in our hearts, we must respond by faith. Faith is to take God at His word, to claim His promise, and yield to His power. God is able to do more than you can imagine with a yielded life in His almighty hand. God is able to save you from your sins, change your life, cause you to be selfless, God-dependent, and live a godly life that pleases Him for His glory!
Hebrews 10:38 “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”
God wants to do the Impossible in and through you; will you let Him?
