James 1:22 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
Faithful Christians are people who not only hear the Word of God, but do the Word of God. They are obedient children who desire to please their Heavenly Father. Jesus counts these people to be wise.
Matthew 7:24 “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:”
Faithful people are wise people that have a good foundation. However, the opposite is true; unfaithful people are people who hear the Word of God but do not do it. Jesus counts these people to be fools with a bad foundation.
If you desire a good foundation, live out what you hear from God’s Word.
James 1:23 “For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: vs 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.”
Unfaithful people to God’s Word easily forget what they hear and who they are. It is a dangerous deception and can cause damage and destruction to their life and the lives of others.
Matthew 7:26-27 “And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: vs 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”
Notice the benefits of faithfulness to God’s Word and continuing therein…
James 1:25 “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
A faithful person is one that does not forget what he hears from the Word of God. He pays good attention intending to obey the Word of the Lord. This person will be blessed in his deeds and all he does. AMEN!
Psalm 1:1-3 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Vs 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. Vs 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
