1 Peter 4:8 “And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.”
Fervent = without ceasing, stretched out, (Thayer, Strong’s)
Above all things, Christians are to show acts of love at all times for this is the core of completeness and maturity in the Christian faith. The Christian faith was built on true love.
Colossians 3:14 “And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.”
It is good to desire knowledge, but the knowledge is for the purpose of growing in grace and in the image of Jesus Christ; it is to love like Him.
Here are some ways to show Acts of Love! 1. Forgive others
Colossians 3:13 “Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”
Love plays an essential role in strengthening and sustaining all of our relationships. Because we are flawed people, we will all, at times, both give and receive offense. When that takes place we must make a choice. We can either hold on to the hurt; allow it to develop, grow and cause bitterness; or we can decide to forgive in love just as we have been forgiven.
2. Serve others
1 Peter 4:9 “Use hospitality one to another without grudging.”
When Lydia was saved and baptized she immediately desired to be a blessing to others. She at this point didn’t know much about the Scriptures, but quickly learnt how to be a blessing by serving others in her home.
Acts 16:15"And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us."
3. Be kind to others
Romans12:10 “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.”
