So then what does the scripture say so that we may regain our saltiness??
Sermon on "How to regain your saltiness"
Hope this be a blessing to you!
Good question Michael.
If I can think of a few believers that lost their saltiness and influence of making a difference for the glory of God it would have been the Church of Laodicea. You can say they were becoming good for nothing Christians by being lukewarm believers.
Revelation 3:16 “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.”
The admonishment to the Church of Laodicea was to open the door and let Jesus back into their life.
Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
Without an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ no Christian can bear the fruit of a Christlike life in order to make a difference in other people’s lives.
John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
Another admonishment to the Church was to repent. They were challenged to acknowledge their poverty, nakedness, and come to the reality that without Christ they can do nothing. It is coming back to the first beatitude, to be Poor in Spirit.
To sum it up, and answer your question, for a Christian to regain their saltiness they must identify the cause for their loss of influence, and repent and regain their relationship with Jesus first.
